Things I've learned at a Bookstore

I've been going a mile a minute and with the Border's closing right after the holidays it's pure madness.

On a daily basis I get these same questions and situations. Please read and absorb for the next time you go into a bookstore.

1. I've learned to help people find what they want when all they have to go on is that it's a book.

2. No one knows how to find the price of a book. 

Paperback: price is on the back

Hardcover: price is on the front inner jacket cover

3. You can always find it cheaper at Costco. Duh! You pay for that privilege.

4. Bookstores are not like libraries... you can't just go to the non-fiction or fiction section.

I've been busy busy this week and next week will be crazier. I started my second job and I feel slightly overworked by all. But I've got to pay for Christmas somehow right.

An Oasis

New love:

H2O + Oasis Mist

I've been having problems with my skin ever since I moved to California about 5 months ago. I've tried everything but until a couple of weeks ago I've been lucking out. I encountered a great saleswoman at Macy's who gave me these samples to try and I fell in love with the H2O+Oasis products. The mist is my favorite because it's light and I can use it before or after I apply my make-up. When I apply it after my make-up my husband actually notices "something different" about me. And for only ~$17 it's a steal! It even comes in a purse-sized bottle too.

New Job I got

So I got a second job to get through the holidays. I went shopping yesterday to get some new work clothes and came home 3 new pairs of shoes, 2 tops and 1 pair of new leggings. I can wear the shoes to work.... I still need to find a few more things.

I have actually already started wrapping Christmas presents and I love it!

Disneyland

It's been a busy couple of days around here. Jake and I went to Disneyland for our first anniversary, and it was great. Not Disney World but still awesome.

I got a second job so I'll be getting that sorted out today and doing a bit of shopping. I'll throw in some Christmas shopping too.

One year ago tomorrow we were married.

3 Months

I found out yesterday that they will be closing the Borders location I work at. I have 3 months till I will no longer be surrounded by books everyday. Sad. But thank goodness we were told in advance. And it's for the best, I had been interviewing other places anyways. And maybe someone is trying to tell me something... like finally finish what you've started and do what you really want to do. We'll see won't we. :)

Have a great Friday everyone! It's a big big weekend for us, it's our 1st year anniversary as husband and wife! And I have a big day planned Sunday to celebrate, and it's all a surprise to Jake! I'm very excited.

The Road

So I went to L.A. yesterday with Jake, my brother Johnathan and his girlfriend Maddie. We went to a taping of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien and then to Hollywood. While we were there we saw there was a movie premiere going on. It was for The Road with Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron. We actually got to go to see the movie for free after a guy asked me if I wanted to go to the premiere. Duh! Awesome! It was great! Dark and not a feel good movie but great. Very emotional. Halloween

I had to work last night so I got to hand out lots and lots of candy there, and it was lots of fun! I didn't even know that I was going to be allowed to dress up so when I found out I through on some fun stuff li a black and pink tutu and lots of sparkle! I'll post a picture later.

Today a work and we're going to be getting ready for Christmas at the store. Christmas! 80 something degrees outside and it's almost Christmas time. Love it!

There should have been Buffalos...

We had a great time at Santa Rosa Plateau yesterday. We spent about 3 hours roaming all the trails and even though we never saw any mountain lions to Jake's chagrin we did see a family of deer that never ran away. They were still there even 1 1/2 hours later. In VA we always saw female or baby deer but I was excited to see a buck.

Family Photo Madness

I'm trying to plan out my family photo. Not an easy thing when it involves 7 people. 7 People who all have their own rules for the photo shoot... it's going to be rough but I'm up for the challenge.

Task one: convince my brother to cut his hair. My parents are officially "those parents" now.

Task two: come up with outfits that look great on everyone. That'll be fun. Trying to make an 11 year old girl and a 15 year old girl happy at the same time will be challenging.

Task 3-10: Location, Getting everyone together, Hair, Make-up, Smiles or Happy Faces...etc...

According to my iPhoto this is the last semi-group photo I have of us minus mom, Johnathan and Jake. This was May 2008...

This one was taken in August of this year but it's minus me, Johnathan and Jake.

We will get this right. Fun!

Disney

Jake and I spent our Honeymoon almost 1 year ago at Disney World. We want to go back... the pictures that we took will have to do for now. We don't want to even go to Disney Land because we know it just won't be the same. It was just all too perfect I guess. :)

I really like the floor to ceiling windows and that beautiful fireplace. I wish I could find a clearer picture of it. And the hardwood floors are not just a straight forward flow of wood like you usually see but  put together in some patterned way. I would also like to see the black and white striped couch without all the patterns on it.

Away for a Couple Days

Jake and I are going to celebrate our first year anniversary a bit early by going to South Coast Winery and doing nothing but relaxing in one of their villas and enjoying time by the pool. We won't be bringing our computers and I can't wait. Yay! I want to get up early and watch the hot air balloons go by. Too bad I'm too chicken to get in one.

Butterflies

Found at the opening night of the Taubman Museum of Art in November 2008. It was also the same day as my wedding. I unfortunately don't remember the artists name and the photograph probably isn't still hanging in the museum but it's still so beautiful. I know the butterflies are probably fake but I like to think they are real.

11th Birthdays

Friday was my youngest sister Hailey's 11th birthday and so today we all went to the American Girl Doll store in LA to celebrate. It was awesome I have to say. The food was yummy and the atmosphere was great. But afterwards my mom, my sister Madison and I wandered around the grove and did some pre-Christmas window shopping.
