Rain!

So yesterday Jake and I were out at lunch and we overheard the employees at the restaurant complaining about the rain. Jake immediately jumped up and ran outside(leaving me at the table) to see if it was true. It Was! When I went to check it out I smelled that wonderful smell and felt some raindrops before the 2 minute rain spell ended. We knew we were acting silly but we still loved it. I even took a picture:

The left over raindrops are in the bottom left of the picture.

Good Wednesday to all!

Fall

After looking at a Washington DC travel book yesterday and seeing all the colorful leaves and remembering the smells of Fall I'm all about warm colors and bed and breakfasts.

Sunny Times

It is hot and really un-humid here and there is a fire that we can see to the south. Not comforting but hopefully it won't make its way north. I'm not too worried though. But I'm really excited about the Opening of the Apple store this Saturday! Jake's been working so hard :)

I'm missing a dark room a lot right now. I'm trying to figure out how to set my own up in the next few months without managing to stain anything... maybe I shouldn't try... I do want my deposit back one day.

The Essence

I haven't posted in a few days because of lots of work and not feeling so hot. And even though I'm still not feeling so hot I'm back and posting. I've done a lot of Etsy window shopping and I stumbled upon some really great stuff. Like these:

Have a great Monday and a good start to your week!

That's Just Mad

I am very excited about the upcoming Alice in Wonderland! Anne Hathaway looks great as the White Queen. Not what we are used to but when does Tim Burton ever give us a movie that we expect? And nothing can beat a Johnny Depp movie either. I'm very in the mood for a topsy-turvy cake now. Yum! Red Velvet please!

Avedon

I LOVE Richard Avedon. My last trip to D.C. I was dying to go to The National Portrait Gallery to see some of his stuff but it was under renovation... sad. But I wanted to share a couple of my favorites of mine. There are plenty more but a just picked these two. Gorgeous! I'm really missing a dark room right about now...

Pacific Beach

Jake and I had a great weekend in San Diego with JJ's brothers. Sunday we went to Pacific beach and Jake didn't get out of the water for 2 hours. The top left photo was taken of the view from Steve and Heather's neighborhood where you can see across San Diego Bay to downtown San Diego. The top right is of Jake and I, bottom left is Jeff and the last is of Tommy and Steve. Good Times, Good Times.

Currently reading this amazing and heartfelt book called The Wednesday Letters by Jason F. Wright. I started reading it and in the first chapter they talked about many Virginia locations including the town I just moved from. Small world. I love it, check it out.

Good Times, Good Times

Today is what would have been one of my good friends 23rd Birthday. His name was Jonathan "JJ" Wooden Sandifer and he past away February of 2008. We will be celebrating his birth tonight in San Diego with a few of his brothers. He was too much of a personality to be able to describe him right but he really was the best. One of the things he said and I loved the best was "Why can't I just be? Why can't I just live?". That was him. He rolled with everything and had the highest goals out of everyone I knew. And being my boyfriend's(now husband) best friend we got to spend a lot of time together and we both really loved each other. Especially after he became Jake's Best Man and we sat there at my Nana and Papa's house going over all his "duties" for the wedding. He cared about our happiness and I have always told Jake that having a friend like JJ almost never happens in life and he is so lucky to have had that. They first met when they were two years old and their mommies introduced them.
But JJ was always supportive of me and my ventures and a big fan of not getting sappy or sad or dwelling. So that's all I'm going to say because today isn't about dwelling it's about celebrating. Here are a few of my favorite things I've come across this week.
I REALLY love this sweater/vest piece! The color is gorgeous and it exudes simplicity but luxe. I found it on this awesome website called Rouche.

This print is cool, funny and classic. I really like how its placed in a thick black frame to really emphasize the print. I found it in an Etsy store called Rolland Tumble Press.

Beautiful. That's all I need to say for this necklace. I found it in an Etsy store called Fuss Jewelry.

Headbands are back and this one is so pretty and classic. I found it in another Etsy store called Twigs and Honey. If you haven't checked out Etsy.com you must!

Have a great and relaxing weekend everyone! And Be Safe.

Love, Jac

Home

Having no real place of my own while living with my parents and making the transition from East to West, I've had to give up a lot of my stuff and put it in a storage unit. And make what I've chosen to keep with me feel like it always was. Part of my home. And sure the stuff inside a house doesn't really make up a home but it's still nice to enjoy making what surrounds you homey and beautiful. I've made the move away from Virginia relatively well all thanks to my kitties, husband and the house full of family (mom, dad, brother and 2 sisters plus two labs). But I'm the type of person who goes shopping and will struggle over buying something for myself but doesn't think twice about buying something for my home. And I'm out of college, married and ready to be able to have a home filled with "my" style. Here are some rooms that I love. The first bedroom is small but cozy because of the warm colors and the bright light from outside. It's not my ideal but it's a nice setup.
This is awesome! I LOVE the bed. I also think the chandelier in the bedroom is very glam. I wouldn't normally think the size of the fixture would work but because it's translucent it really works. The black lacquered floors really makes this room go from "too pretty" to just the right amount of girly, glam and modern.

Everybody have an awesome Friday! I get to spend mine at work but it's also payday so no complaints here!

Roses are fun!

These are some of my favorite paintings that I've done. They were presents for Hailey, Maddie and Mary at Christmas time. I'm not a huge painter but I really enjoyed creating these. In school I was always being told that I was girly and I used too "light"... depending on the teacher it was either a scolding or just a criticism. But now that I'm out of the constant "do it this way or else" I finally get to use "pretty" and not get in trouble. Yay!
Today is my day off and I'm just really looking forward to a weekend away in San Diego with the Sandifers. And it's so nice seeing Jake really excited about his new job. I got such an ear full when I got home yesterday. :)

An Apple Week

This is an exciting week that I've been looking forward to for awhile. Jake starts at Apple this week! It'll be really nice to see him doing something he loves for a change, and not out of necessity. I married such an intensely wonderful man who can achieve anything that he wants. What I been trying to work on is getting him to believe it himself. He focuses so much on me and always has(which I'm not complaining about) that I think he just doesn't see himself how others do. Mission= Change That. I've been watching the Rachel Zoe Project and I love it. I zone out in front of it and I think Taylor is hilarious! She's very in your face and gets everything done. Gotta love that!
I came across these black and white images that I wanted to share because they are amazing:

Rain Rain Come This Way

Here are a some more of my favorite photos that I've taken. I'm in the midst of planning a photo shoot with the beautiful Maddie of Johnathan and Maddie. :) I'm not yet familiar with my surrounding areas so I need to find the best areas that will turn out the best pictures. Maybe I'll take advantage of the wonderful Temecula vineyards. I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day weekend and unlike me will not have to work on Labor Day. Thankfully I will still be able to squeeze in some festivities afterward. It'll be an exciting week around here with my husband starting his new Apple job and all. Can't wait! I'm also hoping that it will actually rain here. I know that's a long shot but it's been months since I've seen it rain or smelled that "rain" smell and I miss it.

Bella

Hello Saturday with your relaxation, coffee, kitty snuggle time and hours before work. I thought for today's post I should start putting up some pictures of my own stuff. I'll start with posting some of my favorite photographs.

I need to get back into the groove of taking pictures. I have lists of photo shoots that I want to do but with all the changes in the last 6 months that involved moving from the East Coast to the West Coast I just haven't had the time to accomplish them. But time is a wasting! I guess I should start planning now while I have the chance.
If anyone was wondering why my blog and soon-to-be business is called "Jac + Addi" it's because after lots of poll taking among friends and family nothing sounded right to me but then Jake and I were talking and I've always loved his middle name. Addison. And I sometimes call him Addi and he likes to call me Jac. So wala! I love it!
I'm in the works of setting up my own website for Jac + Addi designs but until I finish it(I'm a perfectionist) I will be posting my works and designs on here. I hope you enjoy!

New

I had this great idea for my second post last night as I was trying to get to sleep but then I woke up and it was gone.... so bear with me I'm hoping it will come back to me soon (but obviously not today). Today is all about work. I work at my "normal" job until 8 and then come home and do what I love = create. I've got lots of coffee in me and the sun is California shining so I think it'll be a good day.

I love these chandeliers. They make me inspired to create beautiful necklaces. I love modernized old world charm.

My Very First Post Ever

Exciting! For my very first post I thought I'd share some images that I think are inspirational.

They might seem like simple images but I think they are very beautiful.
